 LODGING INFORMATION FOR NAFEW 2017

 

Accommodation is available at the University of Alberta Conference Centre and at the nearby Campus Tower Suite Hotel (located on the U of A campus about 4 blocks from the Conference Centre).

U of A Conference Centre

You can reserve the following types of rooms in the Conference Centre and U of A Student Residence (attached to the Conference Centre)

GUESTROOMS: These are located in the Conference Centre.  Guestrooms have private washrooms in either queen or double occupancy. Queen rooms offer one queensize bed; Queen with SofaBed has one queensize bed and a double sofabed; Doublerooms offer two double beds. Rates listed are based on single or double occupancy and include highspeed internetaccess. Guestrooms offer televisions, telephones (freelocalcalls) and clockradios as well as daily housekeeping service.  These rooms are all available at a rate of $109 (Canadian) per room per night.

PRIVATE DORM Rooms: These are located in buildings attached to or directly adjacent to the Conference Centre.  They have one single bed, a private washroom.  They include Linen and towel services and high-speed internet.  Cost of these rooms is $69 (Canadian) per room per night.

Getting to the U of A Conference Centre:

From the Edmonton Airport:  Check the EIA website at: http://flyeia.com/coming-and-going#sm.00x0796c11q1dwl11611ufa60s2c2

The Edmonton International Airport is located south of Edmonton and is a 30 to 40 minute drive to the University of Alberta (depending on Traffic).

The Skyshuttle (http://edmontonskyshuttle.com/) offers door to door service from the Airport to the Conference Centre/Lister Hall.  Their buses leave about every hour.  Their checkin desk is located near door 7 on the arrivals level.

There is also a public bus (Route 747) operating to and from the airport,  you take the bus to the Century Park Station and catch the LRT (light rail transit) train to the University Hospital.  It is a short walk west from the University Hospital LRT station to the Conference Centre.  For more information go to: http://flyeia.com/coming-and-going/bus-and-shuttles  or www.takeETS.com

From the Greyhound ViaRail Station located northwest of Downtown Edmonton

The Skyshuttle (http://edmontonskyshuttle.com/) offers service from the Greyhound Via Rail Station to the Conference Centre/Lister Hall.

Taxi and Limousine service is also available at the Greyhound ViaRail Station.

Some of Phil’s Favourites: Fort Edmonton (accessible by public transit from the U of A), Devonian Botanical Gardens, The Ukrainian Cultural Centre.

You might want to check out the West Edmonton Mall which has lots of shopping opportunities, a big pool, a skating rink, and the Galaxy Land Amusement Park.

Bike tours, walks, canoing, axe throwing and lots of other options are available to you if you have free time before and after the conference and for family and friends who are coming with you.
