Call for Proposals & Papers

Call for Symposia, Workshops, and Short Courses

Individuals or groups involved in forest ecology, management, or conservation science or practice are encouraged to submit proposals for symposia and workshops/short courses. Proposals must demonstrate an alignment with the conference’s theme.

Symposia: Unlike contributed paper sessions, the symposia organizers construct their session in a top-down fashion with speakers and specific topics chosen by the organizer. Symposia are scheduled concurrently with sessions featuring contributed papers during the three primary days of the conference (Monday, June 24; Tuesday, June 25; and Thursday, June 27, 2019).

Workshops/Short Courses: Workshops/short courses have an educational component, and they are intended to provide training in areas of key relevance for both students and professionals.

Selection Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated by at least two reviewers. To increase the probability that your proposal will be selected for presentation, please consider the following criteria carefully:

  • Relevance to the conference’s theme

  • Scientific merit or contribution to the field

  • Financial support for speaker attendance at the meeting (external support or self-funded participants)

  • Novelty of the topic (not covered at the past two NAFEWs)

Proposal Submission

Please send the information requested in the proposal submission guidelines to NAFEW@nau.edu no later than Monday, October 1, 2018. Decisions will be announced no later than Wednesday, October 31, 2018.
