2013

clearcutThe 9th North American Forest Ecology Workshop was held June 16 – June 20, 2013 at the Bloomington Convention Center in Bloomington, Indiana. The conference will allow forest ecologists, silviculturists, wildlife biologists, and other forest researchers and managers from Canada, Mexico, Central America and the United States to gather and exchange current research and management approaches within the backdrop of the US central hardwood forests.

The conference theme recognizes the ever-increasing fragmented nature of the landscape and its impact on forest management. Nowhere is the issue as pronounced as in the Central Hardwood Region where agriculture and urbanization continue to reduce the forested land base. Conference field trips will allow attendees to tour local public and private hardwood forests to view some of the most productive and diverse ecosystems in the US.

The mission of the North American Forest Ecology Workshop is to bring researchers, academicians, and managers together to foster dialogue and discussion of current issues related to basic and applied research in forest ecosystems in North America.
